INTRODUCING: THE LARK, A MULTIFAMILY PROJECT BY HUTTON DEVELOPMENT

In Wichita’s Historic Delano District, a new residential community is taking shape with a clear purpose: to create housing that feels connected to its neighborhood while offering residents a thoughtful place to call home. The Lark is the newest multifamily project from Hutton Development, designed and constructed by Hutton Design+Build.

Located just steps from Equity Bank Park, The Lark was envisioned as a community that reflects the spirit of Delano while meeting the needs of today’s residents. From the earliest planning stages, the project was guided by one central idea: intentionality. Every aspect of the development, from site planning to architectural details, was designed to create a balance between private living spaces and meaningful connection to the surrounding neighborhood.

The Lark consists of three buildings, each containing 12 units, for a total of 36 apartments. The community offers a mix of one- and two-bedroom homes arranged across three floors. Within each unit, design choices focus on comfort and livability. Large windows bring natural light deep into the spaces, while covered terraces provide residents with a private outdoor retreat. Walk-in closets, stainless steel appliances and spacious layouts help elevate everyday living without losing the approachable character that fits naturally within Delano.

Beyond the individual units, the project also emphasizes shared spaces that encourage interaction and community. Outdoor living areas offer opportunities for neighbors to gather while still maintaining the calm, residential feel that makes The Lark a place to unwind after a busy day.

The name itself reflects the project’s connection to local history. The Lark draws inspiration from the Wichita Larks, a spirited minor league baseball team that played in the Western League in the late 1920s. Though the team’s tenure was brief, it captured a moment of growth and energy for the city. The word “lark” also carries connotations of joy, song and the promise of a new day – themes that align with Delano’s continued evolution as one of Wichita’s most vibrant districts.

As a project developed by Hutton Development and delivered by Hutton Design+Build, The Lark demonstrates the strength of an integrated development approach. With development, design and construction working together from concept to completion, the team was able to move seamlessly through each phase while staying focused on the original vision.
