LAMAR SCHOOL DISTRICT RE-2

When structural issues emerged in Lamar RE-2’s 80-year-old football stadium, the district engaged Hutton Design+Build to deliver a new sports complex on the high school campus to meet current and future needs. With a tight timeline, we worked closely with the architect, school district, and the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention & Control to prioritize long-lead material procurement, phase design documents and coordinate inspections and occupancy permitting.

PLAY BALL

It was important to Lamar School District to be able to host their first home game of the season. We worked hard to finish the project in about 5.5 months. Lamar RE-2 contracted directly with a track/turf contractor and score board vendor while Hutton Design+Build oversaw the installation, ensuring a successful completion of the project — the stadium was ready for the first home game of the season. Go Thunder!

SHORT TIMELINE, LONG LEADS

The timeline for this project was tight — construction began March 1st, 2024, and the Thunder hosted their first home game at the stadium on September 13th. We placed a high priority on the procurement of materials with long lead times, phasing the completion of the design documents, and coordinating inspections and occupancy permitting. This way, we ensured Lamar had access to the stadium facilities as soon as possible.
