Hutton Design+Build’s work with the Geary County School District started in 2009 with an addition to its central kitchen, where 6,000 meals are prepared each day. Since then, Hutton Design+Build has completed work at 23 buildings including elementary, middle, and high schools.

DID YOU KNOW?

Construction of Fort Riley Elementary School was briefly delayed after live ammunition was discovered on the jobsite, located on the Fort Riley U.S. Military base. The ammunition was detonated safely behind the project.

MORE HOMEWORK

To date, Hutton Design+Build has built or remodeled more than 700,000 SF of space for the district. Most recently, we completed a new elementary school, high school and sports facilities.

MILITARY GRADE

Hutton Design+Build has built three new schools on the Fort Riley military base. The middle school, featured here, was completed in 2014, and it features a high-tech media center, a large cafeteria, state-of-the-art auditorium and two expansive gymnasiums. One of the gyms is a FEMA-certified structure. The elementary school was built to meet LEED Silver-certifiable specifications.

ATHLETIC UPGRADES FOR JUNCTION CITY HIGH SCHOOL

Students kicked off the 2021-2022 school year in a brand new 437,000 SF high school. Built on a new greenfield site, and designed by Schaefer Architecture, the project included a new football stadium, soccer, baseball, softball, and track & field facilities in addition to all site work and campus infrastructure.

FLEXIBLE LEARNING, SUSTAINABLE ENERGY

Morris Hill Elementary’s upgraded school capacity is now 570 students, Pre-K through 5th grade. This multi-phase project included a cafeteria, media center, flex lab, music room, multipurpose room and administration spaces, as well as classroom wings with collaboration spaces for flexible learning. On top of these academic upgrades, Hutton Energy Services installed a PV solar array which immediately began benefiting the district by offsetting approximately 25% of the school’s annual electrical usage.
